To position Volvo with an affluent outdoor family audience who want to get outside and connect with nature.
To use a health and fitness event to promote their partnership with British Triathlon.
Volvo partnered with RunFestRun as headline sponsor of the inaugural festival. Onsite branding included sponsorship of the main stage (which featured artists such as Olly Murs and Razorlight) with vehicles positioned on each side of the stage for premium brand visibility.
To enhance engagement with the target family audience, the ‘Volvo Tips’ was promoted as a key feature within the festival. Using 150 sqm of experiential space, Volvo fully immersed themselves in the festival’s family ‘insect’ theme with a bug arts and crafts area and bug themed adventure zone. Volvos were also prominently positioned at the finishing line of the Big Bug Fun Run to collect ‘pollen’ that runners amassed along the route to determine team winners in the vehicle boots.
The activation was launched at RunFestRun and won the brand an industry BE Connected Aware, with Volvo subsequently using it within their entire events programming for 2019.
Volvo received extensive brand, PR reach and coverage through RunFestRun’s pre & post event campaign, along with significant brand engagement during the event across social platforms. The test drive team were busy all weekend with families looking to try out the vehicles onsite.
The complete offering elevated the brand experience to become a hugely successful core part of a new festival; as a result, Volvo quickly signed as headline sponsor for RunFestRun 2020 (now taking place in 2022).
